St. Anthony from our anchorage. Not a large town. A little more is around the corner.
Nice lighthouse & light keeper's house. Still occupied by the look of it.
Many long range fishing boats in the harbor. The famous Grand Banks are due east of here.
One thing St. Anthony has that is very unique is the L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site. The entrance area has a very nice museum.

In about 950 AD, Vikings from Greenland started a settlement in Newfoundland, and were there for at least 3 years, although the length of their stay, and where else they may have gone, seems to be still debated by scientists.
There is no debate that the Vikings were here, however. no doubt at all. Here are foundations of there settlement.

Down the road from the actual settlement ruins is a very educational re-created Viking settlement, including period dressed re-enactor "Vikings".
