In case you're not clear on where Qaqortoq is located, here's the neighborhood map. When our ship dropped anchor, we almost doubled the population!

This is the town square. Actually pretty neat, very quaint.
The "old" church. A new one is up the hill behind us a bit. we liked this one lots more. Both Lutheran, which is the largest faith in Scandanavia (and iceland / Greenland).
Not quite sure what this is telling us, but we liked it. We're also not sure if it is in the Inuit language (called Inuktitut), or an older Icelandic or a Scandanavian language.
The church was open for us tourists, with a small donation requested. we were glad to help them out. Quite beautiful little church.
The altar painting was so exactly right for a community based on the bounty of the sea, such as fishing and hunting.
Many rocks on the hillside behind the harbor area were beautifully carved.
We were told it was done by a group of European sculptors who came over together to do the carving as a group effort for the community.
Some were obviously in honor of the predominantly Inuit population of the town.
